"There are plenty of overly technical writers out there, but just a small group of those able to transform the world of high technology into a set of paragraphs that take the reader on a journey--and give him or her an enjoyment of the trip at the end.

David is just such a writer and that is precisely why he is starting his fourth year as a monthly columnist at SERVO Magazine.

David's great strength isn't in some aspect of his technical depth, but in his ability to understand that of his readership and adjust his writing to match."

Dan Danknick, Former Technical Editor, T&L Publications

Hi. I'm David Geer.

I have always enjoyed writing. Computers finally dragged me away from my beginnings in social work and eventually introduced me to writing about technology.

I can say, though, that the experience and education I received in my former work--I earned a BA in psychology in 1993 have proven useful in researching, writing, persevering as a freelancer and relating to people.

I have satisfied editors with articles that brought increased readership, praise from all sides and repeat work.

I have published feature articles in national and international publications like IEEE Computer, ITWorld.com, HGTVPro.com, Data Center Management and many more (see Writing Samples and a publications list linked on this site).

I have experience in:

Writing for trade magazines
Writing, meeting deadlines, editing and proofing galleys
Researching, pitching story ideas, self-marketing and networking
Conducting background research and locating and interviewing appropriate experts

and I have technical expertise in, and have written about, the following:

Enterprise software installation and testing
ODBC setup
Triple-boot computer systems
SOHO networking
Wireless networking
PC troubleshooting and hardware installation
Mobile hardware and software testing
